Break Time

After much thought and my already lack of presence here I have decided to take an official break from blogging. I am sure I will be back at some point but for now I would like to focus on other avenues of connection as well as put my energy more into creating. So take a look over at my Facebook page... my Etsy site, Society6 and Pinterest to see what I am up to. Ciao for now!

They're Baaack...

Well, what can I say... my little birdies are back. I wasn't sure that they were gone for good anyway. They are quite different in this new series of mixed media pieces and I am having a lot of fun creating them. So far, they range from 4x4 to 6x6 inches. Super fun! Here are a couple of pics... Some of these are listed on my Etsy shop and some prints are available through my Society6 site.

Surprise!

Yesterday a friend sent me a message to let me know she saw my art on a Cloth Paper Scissors blog.

What??? I love that magazine! A few months ago I thought I would post some of my work to the CPS website for fun. But, I had no idea... so I went to www.clothpaperscissors.com to see what my friend was talking about. And sure enough... there it was... one of my paintings in a blog post about mixed media painting! Pure excitement!

Quiet

Well, it has been a while... the time and space away has been more out of necessity than desire.

Life is so unpredictable and changes in a moment, when we least expect it.

We get into our routines, our daily comings and goings and then out of nowhere like at a railroad crossing, the gates come down and force us to stop, abruptly.

This one was very abrupt.

As difficult and painful as it can be, I have to believe that there is something more powerful here (and beyond). Something greater to take away from all of this. Something to learn. Something to be grateful for. Something to strive for...

Toward the end of January I was thinking about what my next word would be. Well, here we are 18 days into February... my word chose me this month. Quiet. Even though there has been so much going on there has been an overall sense of stillness, of being introspective and quietly sitting with my thoughts.

It's Wednesday...

Today is Wishcasting Wednesday over at Jamie Ridler Studios. Jamie asks... "What do you wish to clear?" Oooh, good one!

In preparation for our recent move I did a lot of physical clearing. Many trips were made to the local thrift store to donate the excess stuff. Each trip I made triggered the questions "Where did I get all of this stuff?", "How can I still have more stuff?" and "Did I really need all of this stuff?"

The physical clearing was such a cleansing ritual that, even if we hadn't moved, I would have eventually taken the time to do so... as I do at least once each year.

So often we gather more than we need. We collect things, objects, stuff. We surround ourselves with items that help to define us, to make us feel more whole. We become attached. And often, we need more. And, much like all the physical stuff, we often gather a lot of thoughts, ideas and beliefs about ourselves, others and life that are like all of the extra things... taking up space, clutter, not needed, not worth carrying around and so often, not true.

So to answer Jamie's question... I wish to clear myself of the restricting notions that hold me back from my essence. I wish to clear the unnecessary stuff in order to make room for more good, for more positivity and for more love.

Yummy!

The only thing better than the anticipation of receiving goodies in the mail is actually receiving them. This delicious rainbow of Czech beads arrived yesterday. Excitement!

And, of course, I got right to work designing. Here are a few new pieces...

Feeling Inspired

A big Thanks to Wendy and Ginger for including me on a list of 15 inspiring bloggers... some I know and love, others, I look forward to getting to know. What an honor!

Being a naturally curious individual, I decided to search for the source of this award. I could not find anything but I did discover many other nominees. I love this idea as a way to expand my list of regular (some daily), inspiring reads and explore new, fellow bloggers. Here's to spreading the love!
