It's Wednesday...

Today is Wishcasting Wednesday over at Jamie Ridler Studios. Jamie asks... "What do you wish to clear?" Oooh, good one!

In preparation for our recent move I did a lot of physical clearing. Many trips were made to the local thrift store to donate the excess stuff. Each trip I made triggered the questions "Where did I get all of this stuff?", "How can I still have more stuff?" and "Did I really need all of this stuff?"

The physical clearing was such a cleansing ritual that, even if we hadn't moved, I would have eventually taken the time to do so... as I do at least once each year.
So often we gather more than we need. We collect things, objects, stuff. We surround ourselves with items that help to define us, to make us feel more whole. We become attached. And often, we need more. And, much like all the physical stuff, we often gather a lot of thoughts, ideas and beliefs about ourselves, others and life that are like all of the extra things... taking up space, clutter, not needed, not worth carrying around and so often, not true.

So to answer Jamie's question... I wish to clear myself of the restricting notions that hold me back from my essence. I wish to clear the unnecessary stuff in order to make room for more good, for more positivity and for more love.

The only thing better than the anticipation of receiving goodies in the mail is actually receiving them. This delicious rainbow of Czech beads arrived yesterday. Excitement!

And, of course, I got right to work designing. Here are a few new pieces...

Feeling Inspired

A big Thanks to Wendy and Ginger for including me on a list of 15 inspiring bloggers... some I know and love, others, I look forward to getting to know. What an honor!

Being a naturally curious individual, I decided to search for the source of this award. I could not find anything but I did discover many other nominees. I love this idea as a way to expand my list of regular (some daily), inspiring reads and explore new, fellow bloggers. Here's to spreading the love!

Seven things about me..
  1. Turquoise is my favorite color (and mineral). Black is a close second... yes, black.
  2. I am a Renaissance Soul and I embrace my wide array of interests.
  3. I have two pups... one very neurotic, one very chill. Both very adorable.
  4. I have a loving and supportive husband. I admire him very much.

I'm not one to make a New Year's resolution. It just never makes sense... or maybe I just never plan ahead enough. Yes, I am a bit of a procrastinator. And when the time finally rolls around I am not prepared. Plus, what happens if I decide on a resolution in June instead of January? Maybe I am totally missing the point...

Although I am not choosing to make a resolution I have been contemplating some different ideas for this coming year. It is a new concept for me and something I have been playing with over the last few weeks. I like the idea of choosing a word for the year. Many artists that I admire do this... choose a word as a theme, focus or guide and revisit it throughout the year. But, one word, like one resolution, seems a little too confining. So... I have been tossing around the idea of choosing one word for each month of the new year. I like this idea because it gives me the ability to work on many areas of my life and allows my (slightly restless) self to expand a bit further than if I had just one focal word. We'll see... it is all new to me and I am open to letting it evolve. I am excited, ready to give it a go and see what comes about.

I have been thinking about what my word for January will be... For the past several months I have been in a place of dreaming, wishing and asking. I know that is a very important part of setting things into universal motion... but, now I feel it is time to take a more active role in making those desires come to fruition.

So my word to start the year and for the month of January is...

Have you chosen a word...?
Wishing you the best in this coming year.
